OEC Newsdesk

Oconto Electric has made a commitment to save our member’s money through our load management programs while at the same time increasing our electricity sales. In order to help get these goals accomplished, we have hired a new employee, Terry Farrar. Terry is OEC’s Energy & Electrical Services Technician and his primary function is to build OEC’s load management programs and promote electric heat applications to the members.

An OEC employee since May 21, 2007, Terry is still learning the details about load management and the programs OEC offers. But as the owner of Pine Creek Electric, Terry has been helping this co-op promote load management to his customers for several years. He has installed plenum heaters for many OEC members as well as promoting other types of electric heat.

When asked why he would go from owning his own business to working for OEC, Terry responded, “I guess I was looking to make my life simpler. I was already familiar with OEC’s load management programs, knew many of the employees, and thought the job would be interesting and fun.”

Another benefit to having Terry as an OEC employee is that he is a Master Electrician and has had training in investigating stray voltage issues on farms. “I feel that I have a good rapport with many families in agricultural businesses and I can assist them with electrical issues that they may have,” he explains.

Terry has already come up with some fresh, new marketing ideas for making load

management more appealing to our members. He has also been visiting one-on-one with members explaining the advantages of being on OEC’s air conditioning load management program and has had great success.

Born in Oconto County, Terry’s family moved to Illinois when he was eleven. In 1976 he moved back to Wisconsin – to the Adams-Friendship area – for one year, then in 1977 he moved back to Oconto County. He has two children, Shannon and Jason, and three grandchildren, Lily, Brandon and Liam. He recently married Beth Wickert and they live north of Oconto Falls where they raise beef cattle and horses.

Terry is a very welcome addition to the OEC staff and if he hasn’t visited you yet to talk about load management, just wait - he will.
