OPERATIONS OUTLOOK MARCH “2006”

The Operations Department is once again predicting another busy year for Oconto Electric Cooperative. Over the past five (5) years OEC has averaged between 200-230 new service installations as well as system improvements and Work Plan Projects. This trend will continue into “2006”

OEC just completed a system improvement project in the Beaver Township along Parkway Road. The existing line was an aging single phase underground circuit that was beginning to fault many times over the past year. The new line is an overhead three phase line. Members in this area will see a significant improvement in reliability and outage hours should also be reduced as well. Also, this new three phase line will allow OEC to better balance the load along this circuit and reduce the number of members affected when an outage does occur.

We have also begun construction in the Pensaukee/Oconto townships from Liegeois Road to Chicken Shack Road. The Oconto County Highway Department has planned to rebuild this stretch of roadway in spring and we were forced to move our existing facilities from the east side of the roadway to the west side. This new line will be a 34.5Kv transmission line along with a three phase 12.4 Kv distribution line. Once again, when completed this new line will improve system reliability and allow OEC to better balance our load in the Brookside Substation.

As the year progresses, I will continue to keep you our members updated as to what we are working on and what you can expect in the future. If you ever have a question about projects we are working on. Please, feel free to contact anyone in the Operations Department and we will be happy to answer your questions.

Until next time,

Kris Ingenthron
Vice President of Operations
