During October each year,
Oconto Electric Cooperative
sponsors a coloring contest to celebrate National Co-op Month. This contest is open to all area students in Kindergarten through 5th grades. The contest is divided into three divisions: K-1st, 2nd-3rd and 4th-5th. Each division has a different picture to color and participants are
encouraged to be creative as well as neat. This year the co-op received 861 entries.
Ten entries from each of the three divisions are selected by the Member Services Department. Those 30 pictures are hung up at the office and OEC employees are asked to vote for one from each division that they like best. The winners
receive a gift from OEC’s RadioShack store and their entire class gets a pizza party. OEC employees enjoy this event as much as the students and teachers. It gives the co-op a chance to talk to the kids about what makes co-ops different from other types of business. We are already looking forward to next year!
