Electric Heat Is Better Than Ever

You may be wondering why Oconto Electric is promoting electric heat and at the same time telling you to conserve electricity.
First you need to understand that conservation is most important when demand for electricity is high. In Oconto Electric’s case that is typically between 8 AM and 8 PM, Monday through Friday. From 8 PM to 8 AM, Monday through Friday and all day Saturdays and Sundays, the demand for power is much (4953.00) lower and there is actually excess electricity available.
To be successful in keeping costs down and yet still sell electricity, there are two things OEC can do - find ways to reduce our peak demand and increase kilowatt-hour sales during “off-peak” hours which are the evening and weekend hours mentioned above.
The types of electric heat that OEC promotes will do just that. The many different applications of electric heat are either controllable because there is a backup system that will automatically take over, or they only generate heat during off-peak hours when demand is low.
OEC offers the Dual Fuel and Thermal Storage rate for 3.3˘ per kilowatt hour because it helps shave our peak demand.
