OEC Has Scholarships Available to Area SeniorsEach year, Oconto Electric Cooperative awards five $500 scholarships to area seniors who will be going on to college or technical school. Any senior with at least one parent who is a residential member of Oconto Electric Cooperative is eligible to apply for a scholarship. (Residential is defined as having your primary residence on OEC lines.)Scholarship applications are judged on the following categories: • Grade point average and/or SAT/ACT scores - 20% • School and community activities, awards and accomplishments - 30% • A one-page essay on future life and career goals - 40% • One third-party letter of recommendation - 10% A panel of judges made up of OEC personnel will decide who the five recipients for 2006 will be based on the criteria listed. Each recipient will be asked to attend OEC’s Annual Meeting on April 8, 2006, to be presented a certificate in front of the general membership. The money is awarded at the beginning of the student’s second semester of post-high school education. Applications for the 2006 Oconto Electric Cooperative scholarships are available from area guidance counselors or they can be obtained directly from Oconto Electric.
