MainStreet Messenger

MainStreet Messenger is an emergency response service that helps make independent living a reality while giving peace of mind to the families whose loved ones prefer to stay in the comfortable surroundings of their own home.

The MainStreet Messenger unit is a telephone that has many regular telephone features such as speed dial, speakerphone, and redial. During an emergency however, MainStreet Messenger can be used to summon a responder quickly without having to get to the phone.

By pressing the button on the pendant you are signaling the Cooperative Response Center (CRC) that you need help. Within seconds someone from the response center will attempt to speak to you through the speaker on the telephone. Whether they can speak with you or not, CRC will then contact someone from the list of responders that was provided when the phone was installed, and let them know that you need assistance. Responders should be people that live near you so they can respond to your need for help quickly. CRC can also call a rescue squad if they are asked to do so by the client.

The telephone will be tested during installation and you will test it once a month after the initial installation.

The Cooperative Response Center is in the business of responding to emergencies. That is their only business. The trained professionals are there 24-hours a day, seven days a week to answer emergency phone calls and get necessary help on the way. Your call for help will NEVER go unanswered.

You can feel safe knowing that help is only the push of a button away. To have OEC install the MainStreet Messenger system, the client must provide telephone service (a working landline phone number) and an electrical outlet. The service fee for this peace of mind is $30.00 per month with a one-time installation fee of $25.00.

Oconto Electric Cooperative (OEC) has had the MainStreet Messenger program for over ten years with excellent results. We have about 200 clients who, along with their families, are very pleased with MainStreet Messenger program.
